This is one of those stories that honestly makes you pause for a minute. A very disturbing case has come out of Milton Florida where a 40 year old mother is accused of stabbing her 6 year old daughter more than 20 times inside their family home.
According to reports from local authorities, the incident happened at a house on the 5000 block of Nowling Drive in Milton. Deputies from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a late night call about a cutting incident.
What Police Say Happened in Milton Florida
Investigators say the mother, April Oliva, allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab her daughter Valerie Oliva multiple times. The medical examiner later confirmed the child suffered over 20 stab wounds across her body, including injuries to the neck.
Before deputies arrived, the mother reportedly called her sister around 11 pm. Family members said she was not speaking clearly and was talking about evil spirits and that something bad had happened inside the home.
The child’s father was out of town for work at the time. When he returned home, he found both his wife and daughter lying on the floor covered in blood. Deputies later confirmed the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mother Taken to Hospital, Murder Charge Filed
Officials also stated that the mother had injuries on her neck and stomach that appeared to be self inflicted. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
She now faces a murder charge. Reports say she made her first court appearance from a hospital bed through a video hearing. Once released from medical care, she is expected to be transferred to the Santa Rosa County Jail.
At this time, deputies have not shared any confirmed motive. The investigation is still ongoing, and detectives continue to collect evidence and conduct interviews.
