Gosh, when I first read the news about Jack Steinbrunner, it was unreal. Suddenly, this young guy from Brentsville District High School, the nice, always busy kid everyone liked, was gone. I never met him, but from the things people said about him, he sounded like someone who would very much love to be around.

What his family is going through honestly goes beyond simple words. They have supportive parents, Lindsay and Jamie, and a sister, Ally; all those caring surrounding people cannot, however, bring back a lesser, closer effect that even in such cases makes silence at home different, having lost someone. For instance, I lost my cousin a long time ago, and this whole house felt empty for months. That same kind of feeling is probably hitting them.

Friends and neighbors are sharing their expressions on the internet. One lifelong family friend, Andy Jacks, mentioned knowing Jack since he was a kid and said Jack always had this strong work spirit and a calm nature. That kind of comment reminded me of one of my schoolmates who would always help others without expecting anything in return. People like that leave a mark.

Another friend of Jack, Susan Hawkins, mentioned how abrupt everything was in her comment. She has put forward that prayers and fellowship be accorded to the family since no one gets ready for anything like this. I can understand that. A person falls victim to an accident, and, reliving everything, tries to create a reason around it.

A longtime family friend, Kathy Lensch, tried to put in words the depth and thickness of their miseries. She talked about the loss of a child by the parents and how Jack’s sister has lost her best friend. Such a line generated thoughts of how time spent with loved ones matters. Often, we forget to tell them how much they meant to us until life hits hard.

Another person, Bradley Marshall, urged everyone to stand with the Steinbrunner family. He said Jack’s passing away at just sixteen left people heartbroken. It’s always painful when someone young leaves so early. You see their photos, their school stories, their dreams, and then suddenly everything stops.
