Ohio Mom Arrested After Allegedly Injecting Feces Into Child IV Port at Hospital

The police arrested an Ohio mother who allegedly contaminated her child’s IV port with feces during the child’s hospital stay.

Tiffany Lesueur, 35, from Maumee, Ohio, was taken into custody on Monday, Feb. 9. The authorities brought her to the James A. Karnes Corrections Center for processing. Jail records show she is facing a charge of child endangerment involving torture or cruel abuse.

The incident occurred at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, according to police reports. Police have not shared many extra details yet.

Hospital workers first noticed something wrong on Feb. 6. The video footage showed Lesueur putting an unknown substance into her child’s intravenous port, according to the allegations. Staff members began to monitor her visits after that incident occurred.

On Feb. 8, workers told officers they reviewed more security video. In that footage, she was seen going into a restroom with a cup. The defendant then used the syringe to inject her feces-like substance into the child’s IV tube.

My reading of this material resulted in a state of shock. A hospital is supposed to be the safest place for a sick child. Medical staff needs to handle IV port care with extreme caution because it can lead to infections. Hearing about something like feces being injected into an intravenous line just sounds disturbing. As a parent or even just as a normal person it is hard to understand how this could happen.

The Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center operates under Christie Jenkins who describes this case as demonstrating why children need to report their problems. She also mentioned that in some situations, a child may not even realize what is happening to them.

The court ordered Lesueur to stay away from her child after her arrest. The defendant must refrain from any unsupervised contact with minors.

She appeared in court on Feb. 10 for her first hearing. The next court date has been scheduled for Feb. 19. The information about her legal representation remains unknown at this point.

The investigation into the Ohio child abuse case continues with additional updates expected to follow the next court hearing. You may also be interested in: Ava Holland Death: Myrtle Beach Volleyball Player Remembered for Her Organ Donation Legacy
