Fuzzy Zoeller And His Wife Diane After 45 Years Of Marriage And 4 Years Apart

Fuzzy and Diane spent almost their entire lifetimes together – forty-five years of marriage, Diane having died in 2021, yet many say Fuzzy carried her with him every day of the year. When he passed away in 2025, it felt like he was finally reunited with her after so many years.

The golf world lost such an easy-going smile and laid-back persona, such as Fuzzy Zoelle,r when he passed on November 27, 2025, at the age of seventy-four. My father would tell me how Fuzzy played with a very cool, calm attitude on the old golf clips he watched. I did not understand what golf was all about then, but I liked that he did not look under much pressure.

There’s no word yet on the exact cause of his death. Fuzzy was born on November 11, 1951, became famous by winning the major titles, including the 1979 Masters and the 1984 U.S. Open, and had a total of ten PGA Tour titles; he stayed in the limelight long after he ceased competing at the level considered highest.

He grew up in Indiana and, as a professional, turned pro in 1973. He always had a good fan following, but the issues came up later when he made a comment concerning Tiger Woods. Still, to the majority of the people in golf, he was a close and amiable person.

Diane Zoeller had dementia years before her death.

Fuzzy’s wife, Diane, was a camera-shy person, completely silent but still present in his life. The two were married in 1976, two years after meeting in Indiana and having four children together: Sunnye, Heidi, Gretchen, and Miles.

Most of her life was devoted to family, and she was born on September 25, 1952, in New Albany, Indiana. Friends close to both said that she kept home affairs running when Fuzzy was otherwise traveling and playing tournaments. Her husband’s wins would have her quietly celebratory in the background and keep normal life going.

Sometime around 2013, Diane was diagnosed with what Fuzzy called stage dementia in rapid succession. He once said that the news hit him very hard. I’ve seen this happen with some relatives who are experiencing these very early memory problems, and it is one of the toughest things that happens with a family. Some days are normal, but then some days feel strange and stressful.

Even in the most difficult situation, Fuzzy would still be there around her, caring for her and what have you. Diane passed away on December 18, 2021, at 69 years old, in their home in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Fuzzy lived another four years before leaving in 2025.

Still, today, their children and grandchildren are living memories of time spent with both of them. In most cases, when two people spend all their lives together, their memories are carried forward in different ways through family and mutual friends.
