Honestly, I was knocked straight in the gut when I read this story because it simply illustrates just how low life can get when everybody loses control. A mother named Deasia Thompson says that her ten-year-old son, Noah, was attacked by a senior football player on October 10, 2025, after the football game between Lincoln and Shelby.
As per her account, the big kid got into the play and hit Noah across the head with a football helmet, leaving him cold-knocked down right there. I also play sports, and I can’t even imagine how a child can take such a hit from someone way older and stronger than him.
The injuries were quite severe and frightening. They include a concussion, a busted front tooth, a busted lip, a black eye, and a scar that will stick with him for all time. For a ten-year-old kid, it is not only physical pain. A moment like that stays with you for life.
High school sports have always been portrayed as great things, backed by teamwork, respect, and school pride. We are told that sports build character and discipline and all that, but stories like this reveal a different side that people would rather not talk about. Usually, older players misuse their size and strength against younger kids instead of guiding them.
Mother Speaks on High School Football Assault
Deasia Thompson chose to go public with the news because she felt like she had fallen on deaf ears. After the incident, the school’s response to the whole matter was, in essence, non-existent. Even though criminal charges were laid, she says that the school suddenly did nothing.
He argued that no punishments whatsoever were taken against this player who assaulted her son. He kept playing every game as if nothing had happened. If that is true, it feels wrong in very wrong ways. When I think of school rules, we get punished for way smaller things.
Thompson said the football coach at Shelby High was told about the incident that night. According to her, the coach did not care. After that, she went to the athletic director, the head coach, and even the superintendent, who said they would speak to Lincoln County, but, according to her, that conversation never happened.
She has also claimed that the school complicated matters by failing to provide her with the player’s parent or guardian’s contact information. That would honestly send any parent into a wave of helplessness and anger.
She further expressed her feelings, saying that she is usually very easy-going and would have liked to let it go, since they are all kids at the end of the day. She did not want to ruin anyone’s future, but the mom had to be a mom and bring it up. She said it feels like she failed her child by not speaking up sooner. That part hit really hard because no parent should feel that way after their kid gets hurt.
Impact on the Family
This incident not only hit Noah but the whole family as well, said Thompson. She lost a job because of too many days away from her workplace tending to her son. This shows how one violent act somehow damages the home front as well.
While authorities have not thoroughly investigated the case, North Carolina law requires schools to take bullying and harassment seriously. An incident creates a legal issue when it makes a person fear for their safety or creates a hostile environment in a school.
Thompson waited until after the Shelby team won their championship to post her story. She did not want to take away the moment from other players by doing so. However, the silence had gone on too long, and she thought people needed to know what really happened.
Online Support and Calls for Accountability
Once she told her story online, a good number of people had her back. Many urged her to make the school, district, and insurance companies accountable. Some even encouraged her to file lawsuits against medical expenses, pain, and emotional ordeal.
One comment suggested suing the school, the district, and even the player and his parents. Another offered legal help. It shows that people are tired of schools brushing serious violence under the rug.
As a student and an avid sports follower, this story really kept me thinking. Sports are not a place where any child should be hurt and ignored for the offense. No game is more important than a child’s safety. And not taking issues like this seriously will keep perpetuating them.
