Kyle Karros was brought up along with siblings Jared Karros and Mikah Karros in Los Angeles, in an upbringing contributed in a large part by parents Eric and Trish. They actually grew up in a home that spoke baseball. I have followed baseball families like this over the years, and honestly, these stories always feel even more real because sports and family life are so integrated.
Kyle’s Baseball Journey
Kyle Karros is one of those names that are slowly becoming known in the MLB. He currently plays as the third baseman for the Colorado Rockies. Watching him play keeps reminding me how hard it is to crack it at this level. I remember watching college guys a few years ago, thinking how bizarre it would be to see them in MLB one day.
Recently, Kyle hit his first MLB home run. What made it even more special was that it happened against the Dodgers, which is the same team his dad played for years. The home run came at Coors Field, and you could feel how significant that moment was for him and his family.
Kyle took after his father, Eric Karros, and followed in his footsteps into baseball. He played college baseball at UCLA and was then drafted by the Colorado Rockies. Growing around the game helped, but then when you get to this level, nothing comes easy.

Kyle Karros and His Brother Jared Karros
Both Kyle and Jared Karros are trying to make a name for themselves in professional baseball. Jared Cayden Karros is a pitcher who also played college baseball at UCLA; that alone shows how strong baseball runs in this family.
In his freshman year in 2020, Jared finished 2-0 and posted a 3.86 ERA while striking out 16 in 14 innings. Later, he became the UCLA Opening Day Starter, going 2- 1 with a 3.33 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 27 innings. He also excelled academically, earning recognition on both the Pac-12 and the Director Honor Roll.
Unfortunately, Jared missed almost the whole of 2022 due to an injury. Injuries are the worst part of sports, and I’ve seen many players lose momentum because of them, but he still did not give up on his dream.
In the 16th round of the 2022 MLB Draft, Jared was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers as the 495th overall pick. He moved from Low-A Rancho Cucamonga to High-A Great Lakes. He ended the season with 30 punch-outs and only 4 walks; solid numbers.
Kyle is mocked and ridiculed for being the son of former major league player Eric Karros. As it happened, he decided to take the legacy route and moved up through college baseball at UCLA into the draft by the Colorado Rockies. Growing around the game helped, but then when you get to this level, nothing comes easy.
April 25, 2025, recorded six strikeouts in a single game while pitching for Tulsa. He was recently placed on the full-season injured list for Tulsa on July 21, 2025. Injuries notwithstanding, the chase is still on for a big baseball future.

Mikah Karros Choosing a Different Path
Their sister Mikah Maly Karros decided against making the jump into professional sports. She did play college basketball earlier, then decided against it for a completely different career. She studied psychology at Pepperdine University and is now a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
Living in Beverly Hills, Redondo Beach, and West Hollywood, she will help teens and young adults suffering from mental health issues. I kind of like how this shows that success is really not limited to sports. Everyone in the family found their own path.
Strong Family Support
Kyle and Jared will continue the baseball tradition; Mikah excels in her own field as well. The family seems very supportive of each other, which honestly matters more than awards and stats.
In Case You Did Not Know
Kyle’s father, Eric Karros, is a former MLB first baseman. He played for 12 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was the National League Rookie of the Year in 1992. He also earned a Silver Slugger Award in 1995. You may also be interested in: Brazilian Passenger Refuses to Give Up Paid Window Seat and Internet Goes Crazy
