Everybody in Farwell, PA, began to feel anxious at this point after the unfortunate news about Bucktail High School basketball player Xander Shearer. About a week ago, a horrible car crash occurred, placing him in the intensive care unit. Friends, family, and teammates send prayers and support behind him; even people who don’t know him personally do the same.
Xander Shearer was a senior in Bucktail. He played basketball for Bucks High School while on the 2024 2025 Bucks boys basketball team during his time in the field, known as a strong player. In his high school sports, he achieved a lot with what he had.
He added that in December 2024, he finished first in the Regional 3 Blind Draw game at Liberty Arena. This was a massive moment for him and the team. He was not only interested in basketball but also played baseball, which was clear evidence of his active, hardworking approach to sports. I have seen many players like him with a delicate balance between school and sports; it is rarely easy. It requires absolute dedication.
The accident occurred on 9 December 2025. As far as people know, it happened somewhere around Renovo Road in Gregory Township. There are not many official details about the incident yet, but it’s definitely dire.
Xander was taken immediately to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center at Williamsport. There, the doctors found that he had sustained brain trauma, and he was operated on to relieve the pressure on his brain. He had multiple broken bones. Hearing this is really heartbreaking because no one so young and active should have to go through that.
His brother, Bradley Shearer, opened a GoFundMe page to help cover their medical bills and other costs. Hospital stays, surgeries, and recoveries take a lot of money, and such support goes a long way in helping this community. Many have already contributed towards the worthy cause and posted those encouraging messages.
At the moment, everyone is working to receive good reports. The community of Farwell, PA, will stand united and pray for Xander Shearer. I have observed how effective community support is during hard times, and this is indeed extremely helpful to families.
