A Planet Fitness workout day is one day to tell wild stories about. What started as a cute little drama turned into a full-fledged crazy, all because a woman dared to say “Have a good day” as she left the gym.
I have been to Planet Fitness on many occasions, and it is usually calm. People work out and leave. It was thus shocking to see such behavior.
Then this video went viral, showing the employee visibly angry and screaming at a client. The woman behind the camera says she was finishing her workout and walking out. As she passed the front desk, she politely told the employee Have a good day. That was it.
Then the employee just snapped. She looked around and asked who she was cursing at. The weird thing is, the customer says she never cursed at all. Not once. It really seemed like the employee took it the wrong way or came to work with a chip on her shoulder.
So the surprised customer went across to another staff member to complain. She described the employee’s customer service as being really bad and rude. She kept insisting that all she did was say Have a good day, and the worker reacted like she was being attacked.

After which, matters escalated very fast.
The employee came out from behind the desk, shouting at the top of her lungs, challenging the lady to a fight. It was all screaming matches between the two of them, with the gym floor transformed into a scene that nobody would have predicted in a gym.
The lady kept telling the employee that she does this at her job and that this is how you act while working. From the video, she stayed behind the camera the whole time. She did not move toward the employee.
Another Planet Fitness staff member stepped in and tried to plead for calm. From all indications, they were trying to diffuse it all before it went physical. The angry employee, however, would not bow down, and this time she made it clear she was ready to fight.
At some point, the woman warned not to touch her and said there would be a lawsuit if anyone did. She continued telling everyone around about the real happenings. She reiterated many times that she did not even slightly curse, was not rude, and just said good day to the employee.
She further claimed that if the employee came to work angry, it gave her absolutely no reason whatsoever.
The video is nothing. The whole time the employee was yelling, the customer stayed behind the camera, explaining herself. From my own observations, I never found a single reason to react that way if introduced nicely by somebody in the gym. For some people, gyms are really stressful environments.
The online reactions were mixed. Instead of fully supporting the woman, many suggested there had to be more to the story. Some believe no one would act like that just because they have a good day.
One user said there is definitely more to it and that nobody should let someone ruin their job by getting emotional at work. Another person said they want to hear both sides and doubt it was just a polite goodbye.
Some comments were down to pure sarcasm. A user joked that a ten-dollar gym membership comes with attitudes like this.
Currently, the Planet Fitness Atlanta situation has everybody talking. Some feel for the employee. Others think for the customer. One thing is quite clear. A tiny moment became a huge mess that could have been avoided with a bit of calm and some respect.
