A broken picnic table in a park in Bremen was brought to the notice of a few people, and then the entire chaos started. I call it chaos because it turned into one of the biggest online fights I have seen in the small town. I have seen a few quirks in local groups like this, and honestly, it always becomes wild when somebody makes a hasty judgment. I have personally been in these groups for fun, and people are always prepared to argue even at midnight.

A resident called Sonja Rae made a post on The Bremen Citizen group on Facebook. She asked parents to converse with their children to find out which of them was responsible for damaging the picnic table. The woman said that she saw some heavy boys with a basketball in the dark, and she figured that they had broken the table. She also used some rude words for them that a lot of people didn’t like at all.
Right after her post went live, the whole comment section exploded. There were people giving advice, people joking, people fighting, and people rushing to tell her that she had judged the boys without any proof-and some even declared she was too hard on the kids.

Broken Picnic Table Sparks Big Online Fight In Bremen (3)
As with most locals making an exact point, most of them asked the lady to stay very, very quiet and said she guessed without knowing the full story. Someone asked her whether she ever thought the table might have been broken before the boys went there. Another asked if she really saw them breaking it or just sitting on it. I, too, was in complete unison when I read the reactions. That’s typical of any community group. Someone puts up a strong claim, and then the entire group goes off.
Some people even said she was judging the boys on how they looked. Another said it would take a lot of strength to break the table, and she might be assuming too much. Things got a bit bad there.
Some neighbors even thought that the table itself was not well-made. One lady said it seemed like the design was not properly done, as the end was too long. Another resident added that other tables like this one have bent this way before. This actually sounded plausible because park tables are sometimes old and weak. I have seen some in my own area that bend if someone just leans on them.
There were also a few people who agreed that vandalism is a problem in parks, but still said it was an added shame because of her choice of words. One said that kids get this way because their parents poorly guide them. Another said that nowadays, people lack accountability for themselves. Those keep allowing this argument to go on even more.

Then everything turned funny. The whole thing became a meme zone. People dropped all sorts of jokes and sarcastic replies as if attending a comedy show. Someone said she was acting like a bench police officer. Another queried why she was on the watch for the overweight kids in the dark. Some even pointed fingers at her for breaking the table herself. At this point, it felt like the table mattered less than the entertainment.
There were also comments saying that the kids were at least at the park and not doing anything harmful. One person said she was judging the boys for no real reason and calling them names over a table. They also said that if the broken picnic table was that big of a deal, she could fix it herself.
Nobody knows to this day who exactly broke the table or whether those teens were involved at all. They could have broken it or may not have. The table may have been like that already. Broken park tables are, honestly, not a unique phenomenon.

But this is very important: the entire town fought over one picnic table. The battle over the broken table became bigger than the broken table itself, and Facebook also just kept growing like crazy. I have seen this happen before in local groups, and it always ends the same way: everybody throws hands, not a soul knows the truth, and up until the end, the real problem stays.
